The gold, silver, and bronze medal winners form all countries got their awards and money in the final hours before the historic 80,000-seat Stade de France hosts the Paris 2024 Olympic closing ceremony on August 11.
The International Olympic Committee fails to award medallists cash prizes. Rather, the individual nations are the ones who reward their athletes with extra incentives and cash prizes.
Hong Kong
Prize money in Hong Kong has risen over 20% since the Olympics in Tokyo. The Economic Times adds that the winners of the gold medal collect HK$6 million, or about $768,000, while the holders of the silver and bronze ones collect HK$3 million and HK$1.5 million, respectively.
Singapore
Singapore gives SG$1 million (about $745,300) for gold medal winners, SG$500,000 to silver, and SG$250,000 to bronze medal winner.
Isreal
A gold medal is paid one million Israeli shekels, or around $270,537, of Israel.
France
The gold medal winner from French gets 80,000 euros, which is about $86,528. This is a raise of 15,000 euros from the Tokyo Olympics.
India
The Indian Olympic Association gives a further 10 million rupees to the gold medal winner in addition to an additional financial prize of 7.5 million rupees, or about $90,000.
Kazakhstan
Gold medalists from Kazakhstan earn $250,000, silver medalists $150,000, and bronze medalists $75,000. Athletes who compete also get apartments as part of their awards.
Malaysia
The National Sports Council of Malaysia offers gold medallists a million ringgit, or roughly $215,563, while silver and bronze medalists receive 300,000 and 100,000 ringgit, respectively. In addition, as promised by Hannah Yeoh, the country’s minister of youth and sports, each podium finisher will get a “foreign-made car.”
