India’s COVID-19 Active Tally Surges to 35,199 with 5,800 New Cases in 24 Hours
A nationwide vaccination drive against COVID-19 cases in India began on the ministry’s website. As a result, we have recently administered 220.66 crore doses of the Covid vaccine.
Covid-19 cases in India:
The number of COVID-19 cases in India increased by 5,880 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 35,199. As a result, the death toll rose to 5,30,916, with 12 further fatalities, according to data updated at 8 am. The daily positivity rate is 6.91%, while the weekly positivity rate is 2.03%. The nationwide inoculation drive has administered 220.66 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine so far, as stated on the ministry’s website. In addition, a two-day mock drill will be conducted across public and private facilities nationwide to evaluate hospital preparedness. According to officials, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will oversee the simulated training at AIIMS, Jhajjar, during his visit on April 10.
Mandaviya stressed the importance of monitoring influenza-like illness and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) cases to identify emergency hotspots during a virtual meeting with state health ministers. He also urged officials to increase testing and vaccination efforts and prepare hospital infrastructure for potential surges in cases.
Mandaviya reiterated that the five-fold strategy of Test-Track-Treat-Vaccinate and adherence to Covid-Appropriate Behaviour remains the proven approach for COVID-19 management, regardless of new variants. He urged states and union territories to increase their testing rates from 100 tests per million, as recorded on the week ending April 7, and advised them to prioritize RT-PCR tests.
