A deadly collision between an LPG tanker and multiple vehicles on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway resulted in a catastrophic fire on Friday morning, claiming at least seven lives and leaving more than 35 individuals injured. The fire spread rapidly, consuming over 30 vehicles and sending thick black smoke into the sky.

Details of the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway Accident

Preliminary reports indicate that the truck involved in the accident was carrying a chemical. Videos shared on social media depicted large plumes of smoke billowing from the vehicles engulfed in flames. Emergency response teams quickly mobilized, with more than 25 ambulances dispatched to transport the victims to nearby hospitals. Many of the injured sustained severe burn injuries.

Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited SMS Hospital, where the injured were being treated, and instructed medical staff to ensure proper care for the victims. He also visited the accident site and spoke with local police officials about the situation.

Witnesses Share Terrifying Accounts of the Incident

Witnesses to the tragic scene described the horror they witnessed. One school van driver, who was en route to pick up students, reported seeing a man engulfed in flames from a distance of over a kilometer. He recalled the chaos and panic, with people running for help as fire brigades and ambulances struggled to reach the site due to the severity of the blaze.

Another witness described how a large section of the highway, stretching 100 to 200 meters, was completely consumed by the fire. “When we woke up around 5:30 AM, we heard a blast. Those who could escape from the bus did, but others were trapped and burned,” he said. “Fire spread across an entire lane of the highway.” The door was locked, so we broke the window to escape. Seven or eight others followed, jumping out as blasts went off around us.

Authorities and Emergency Response

Emergency services worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control and attend to the injured.The nearby petrol pump increased the danger, causing additional explosions. This further complicated efforts to manage the situation. Despite the challenges, emergency responders remained dedicated and quickly transported the injured to hospitals for urgent care.
