The Supreme Court said on Tuesday that it expects the National Testing Agency (NTA) to act quickly when it comes to the wide claims of a paper leak in the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) undergrad test in 2024.

The argument about the NEET paper leak arose during the hearing of the motion to cancel this year’s May NEET test by the vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and SVN Bhatti.”We expect that you (NTA) will react quickly. On July 8, let’s hear the petitions,” the bench said.

In addition to the supposed paper leak, there have been other issues surrounding the 2024 test, with students voicing worries regarding the process used to determine scores.

During the June 13 hearing, the Centre informed the highest court that candidates who exceeded the exam’s time limit could either retake the exam or forfeit the grace marks awarded for the lost time.

According to media sources, a remarkable number of applicants achieved a perfect score in the results published on June 4.

At today’s petition hearing, the Center stated that the court should not make any decision on the allegations unless the Center provides an acceptable response in the case. It is important to remember the pupils’ dedication to their studies, stressed the petitioners’ attorney. Imagine a doctor attending to a patient who has died in this manner. The Court was informed that they should measure the number of mobile phones, among other things.

Aspirants worked hard for the entrance exam, the Supreme Court said, and “we cannot forget their labor.” The judge ordered the NTA to fix the errors and not consider the petitions filed against the NEET-UG as adversarial litigation. You have to conduct the examination fairly as the conducting agency. If something goes incorrect, state that this is the course of action we will pursue. “At least that gives you confidence in your performance,” the bench said to the NTA. The Supreme Court reiterated its desire that the testing organization take “timely action” in its decision. The next hearing on the subject is set for July 8.

One of the petitioners’ lawyers received punishment by the Supreme Court last week for purportedly representing students in Kota, Rajasthan, coaching centers who were committing suicide as a result of the NEET-UG 2024 test issue. The court instructed the petitioners who requested a CBI investigation into the purported irregularities in the test not to make such emotive arguments, which the court dismissed.
