On Thursday, protesters at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, announced that their ongoing Wrestlers’ Protests against WFI President Brij Bhushan Singh will continue until police arrest him. Later, Supreme Court concluded proceedings for FIR registration against the individual accused of sexual harassment by three female wrestlers.

The protesters urged the Delhi Police to apprehend BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, despite the court acknowledging two FIRs filed against him by the police.

The protesting wrestlers expressed their approval of the Supreme Court’s decision to terminate the proceedings on the plea the three women wrestlers filed. However, they said that the SC’s order was not a setback and that the protest would continue. Additionally, the wrestlers stated that they have kept all their options open and would determine their next steps after consulting with their seniors.

A physical altercation broke out between the protesting wrestlers and the on-duty police personnel on Wednesday night, resulting in a violent turn of events. The wrestlers were bringing folding beds for sleeping, and the police officers began enquiring about that, as rules do not permit bringing such items to the protest site. As a result, male police officers mistreated and physically assaulted Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, causing them to cry. As a result, two wrestlers, including Sangeeta Phogat’s brother Dushyant, suffered injuries.

For the past few days, the wrestlers have been protesting and demanding the resignation and arrest of Brij Bhushan Singh. Protesting grapplers allege that Singh faced accusations of sexual harassment and engaging in corrupt practices. Furthermore, they claim that Singh has favored wrestlers from his state and ignored deserving wrestlers from other states.

Conclusion:

The Wrestlers’ Protests have made their demands clear, and their voices are being heard. Protesters insist on Brij Bhushan Singh’s arrest despite Supreme Court closing proceedings on plea against him. The wrestlers have been fighting for their rights and the integrity of the sport, and they have shown.
